More than just the expected Irish tales, several professional storytellers share great stories from the cultures across the world. An event for adults and mature young people. Presented for the Gangplank Brown-Bag Series.

Featured tellers include Sean Buvala, Mark Compton, Sandy Ogelsby and Bryan Lee.

Bring your lunch if you wish. There is no charge for this event.

We start right at 12Noon, so arrive early for easier parking and seating. Performance is about an hour in length.

Sean Buvala
Sean has been a pro storyteller since 1986, biz coach, artist-marketing consultant who travels internationally with stories for your life & biz, your soul & head. Classic tales preferred and performed.

Mark Compton
Mark has been in the Phoenix storytelling scene presenting historical interpretation at the State Capitol Museum. Under Mark’s leadership “West-Side Story Tellers” has been revived and
interesting new directions are being forged in collaboration with the local Phoenix folk music scene.

Sandy Ogelsby
Internationally traveled with stories told around the world, Sandy Oglesby is the type of veteran storyteller who makes you laugh out loud and yet her message reaches deep into the soul. She can be profound and profoundly funny at the same time.

Bryan Lee
Bryan Lee is a nationally-known character coach, storyteller and humorist. His hysterical tales of woe, inspiring stories of triumph, and life-changing transformations, have earned him praises of listeners of all ages. He has performed from coast to coast in small comedy venues like Stand-Up Scottsdale, to the rousing showrooms of Las Vegas at The Stardust Casino Showroom, and everywhere in between.

StoryRise Brown Bag: January 25!

“Stories of Innovation” for adult audiences will be presented at Gangplank Avondale’s Brown-Bag Series on Friday, January 25, 2013 at noon. The one-hour presentation is open to the public features three Arizona storytellers from around the Phoenix and West Valley areas. There is no charge for the presentation and attendees are welcome to bring their own lunches. The featured storytellers include artists who have been onstage at the Phoenix Fringe Festival and a variety of other international locations. Stories are told and not read or scripted.

Gangplank is located at 525 N. Central Avenue in Avondale Arizona. Questions can be directed to sean@storyteller.net.

The event’s theme is especially suited for the entrepreneurial spirit of Gangplank Avondale users. Sean Buvala, one of the featured storytellers at the event, says, “Gangplank is all about looking at ideas and finding ways to create innovative responses. Creative people all through history have tried to create fresh ideas. We’ll explore some of those processes through both personal stories and folktales. We have a lot of fun at these events.”

New Podcast for October 2012: Adult Stories for Halloween

Here’s the latest podcast from the October 2012 StoryRise Brown-Bag event held at Gangplank Avondale. Featuring the, umm, “seasonal” October stories from professional storytellers Sandy Oglesby and Sean Buvala. In this 55 minute podcast, you’ll hear the stories of the “Two Farthings,” “The Blue Shawl,” “The Fiery Steed,” “Biddy Early,” “Snake Leaves” and a story telling you just why you shouldn’t be “parking” with your boyfriend out there on Camelback Mountain. It’s a podcast of sometimes edgy and sometimes funny adult Halloween stories perfect for this “boo!” time of year. Remember, these podcasts aren’t for the bunny-slipper crowd.
