Three accomplished storytellers and fringe performers take on the real and metaphorical journeys from the perspective of world folktales. This is an event for adult listeners and the urban entrepreneurs who know that “one foot in front of the other” is really the only way to go. Presented for the Gangplank Brown-Bag Series. Bring your lunch if you wish.

Arizona Storytellers Mark ComptonMark Compton
Mark has been in the Phoenix storytelling scene presenting historical interpretation at the State Capitol Museum. Under Mark’s leadership “West-Side Story Tellers” has been revived and interesting new directions are being forged in collaboration with the local Phoenix folk music scene.

Liz Warren, Arizona StorytellersLiz Warren
Liz Warren is the director of the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute, a board member and performer for the Phoenix Fringe Festival and an internationally recognized and travelled storyteller.

StoryRise: $tories of Money and Treasure, Greed and Rewards

Treasure! Take it all or leave it behind? Is it in your backyard or over the rainbow? Share your bounty or losers weepers? Mine or ours? Money, success, accomplishment and small business have been around for a long time. Four accomplished storytellers and fringe performers take on the big treasure questions from the perspective of world folktales. This is event for adult listeners and the urban entrepreneurs who know that “show me the money” is as old as desire itself.

This month’s featured tellers:

Sean Buvala– Pro storyteller since 1986, biz coach, travels internationally with stories for your life & biz, your soul & head. Classic tales preferred.

Elly Reidy– Telling across generations and cultures (like AZ & China) with humor while always looking for that 1/4 turn of perspective.

Harriet Cole– A frustrated writer who wandered into storytelling and never left. Performed in venues ranging from the Gila Bend Shrimp Fest to the Phoenix Fringe Festival.

Laura Rutherford– Daughter of two storytellers,“Once upon a time” is a way of life that she pursues, looking for new story opportunities and the gifts they bring.
